All Night Long

Above we have the first music video and single released by Blink-182 in 7 years. The new album is due out at the end of September and I'm sure i can speak for anyone else who had/still has a Blink-182 obsession when i say I'm THAT keen to hear it! Also take a listen to the other Blink song below, its good ol' catchy pop-punk.

Featured a few posts ago, Gabriel & Dresden's 'Mixed For Feet' dropped over the weekend and what a double album it is! The album features 2x70 minute mixes (1 for each disc) as well as all the original tracks used in the continuous mixes... It's fucking tops! Here's a couple of originals mixed on the album.

Felguk - Blow Out (Original Mix)

Fedde Le Grande - Metrum (Original Mix)

Gabriel & Dresden - Tracking Treasure Down (Revisited Edit)

Blink-182 - Heart's All Gone

Focus: Super8 & Tab

This past week saw Super8 & Tab release their 'Empire: Remixed' album on Anjunabeats. The album features all the songs from 'Empire' but remixed by some of the best artists in the trance & progressive scenes. Here below are 3 songs from the remix album and a remix by Super8 & Tab themselves.

Can't stress how much you should get amongst these guys! Let alone most artists signed to Anjunabeats label.

Super8 & Tab Feat Jan Burton – Slow To Learn (Maor Levi Remix)

Super8 & Tab Feat Jan Burton – Free Love (Sunny LAX Remix)

Super8 & Tab – Eternal Sequence (Jaytech Remix)

Gareth Emery - Citadel (Super8 And Tab Remix)

Back To Reality

It has been a loose week in Brisbane hence the lack of posting. Tuesday night saw The Met host the Trance Nation tour with tyDi & Marlo. It was such a good night because the crowd was a real selective trance-loving bunch, not to mention tyDi was filming his new film clip! This was backed up the next day (after 2 hours sleep!) by the infamous Ekka Races, which might i add was a drunken mess!

This mid-week bender so happened to coincide with the release of Nero's new album "Welcome Reality", so it's received high rotation all week. Straight up this has to be the dubstep album of the year. Period. It's so diverse and well produced, i especially love the last track - a 17-minute symphonic production that incorporates/remixes some of the album's earlier songs.

So here's a couple of tracks from the album, plus a couple of tyDi songs from his new album "Shooting Stars" which was released last week. For those who don't know - tyDi is Australia's No. 1 DJ, he hails from Brisbane and plays all over the world.

tyDi - Acting Crazy (This is the song they shot the video clip for @ the Met)

tyDi - Never Go Back

tyDi - Why Do I Care?

Nero - Welcome Reality VIP

Nero - Crush On You

Nero - Doomsday

Dubstep Invasion - SLiDE

The new & first Brisbane-based TV series SLiDE kicks off tomorrow night. It's about 5 teens about to turn 18 partying in The Valley at different clubs, experiencing first times and seeing live music. The theme song for the show is a nice little piece of dubstep worth sharing. I've never really been much of a TV series person but seeing as this is based in Brisbane and I'm an 18 year old muso, I'd like to think I'll be able to relate to the series a bit.

So here is the SLiDE theme song along with two other shredical dubstep songs from Parklife artists Flux Pavillion and Feed Me.

Shave - Change Your Heart (SLiDE Remix)

Flux Pavillion - Fucking Noise VIP

Feed Me - Blood Red (Original Mix)

SKYWAY! New Album

Today marks the release of the debut album from local pop-punk act Skyway. Posing similar sounds to old school giants New Found Glory, these Gold Coast lads have already toured Australia extensively on their EPs gaining a solid fan base that is bound to multiply with this release.

Here are a few oldies from Skyway as well as a music video for a new song off 'Finders Keepers'. You can catch Skyway on the 'Fuck The Reaper' tour in October featuring Asking Alexandria (UK) and headlined by Brisbane greats The Amity Affliction.

Skyway - And Your Toe-tag Will Read 'Sellout'

Skyway - Re-union Road

Skyway - All These Years

Skyway - Birthdays (Are For Sluts & Losers)

Revolution Incomplete

It appears the new Soundwave Revolution festival has been cancelled due to the unannounced headliner pulling out last minute. A second announcement was scheduled for August 1st but got pushed back 2 days, then held indefinitely until today when rumors arose of a cancellation. You can read all about it including Soundwave's official statement here.

I'm a little disappointed this tour got cancelled, although to be honest the headliners weren't the appeal. Here are some songs by Soundwave Revolution artists that i was hoping to see at the festival.

The Word Alive - The Wretched

Funeral For A Friend - Broken Foundation

Attack! Attack! (UK) - We're Not The Enemy

And here's a song by Every Time I Die that inspired the name of Brisbane's independent music store, Kill The Music.

Trance Tuesday

Here are a handful of trance goodies mixed by artists from Above & Beyond's Anjunabeats label. 'Counting The Points' by Andrew Bayer is a real treat to the ears, the song progression is epic. It comes from his debut album It's Artificial which was released a mere two weeks ago on Anjunabeats and is definitely worth checking out.

Andrew Bayer - Counting The Points

Gareth Emery - Citadel (Super8 & Tab Remix)

Mat Zo - Synapse Dynamics (Arty Remix)

Above & Beyond - Can't Sleep (Super8 & Tab Remix)

Dead Hearts for Alexisonfire

Sadly, A few days ago Canadian Post-hardcore band Alexisonfire celebrated their 10 year landmark by calling it quits (Read the full statement here).

Alexis had 5 albums and a handful of EPs, splits and singles. Their reputation in Australia was huge with several tours including Soundwave Festival appearances.

Here below I've uploaded 2 Alexisonfire tracks. One is a special cover track from the Aussie tour 7" of Midnight Oil's 'Dead Hearts'. The other is an old favorite from Crisis.

Alexisonfire - Dead Hearts (Midnight Oil cover)

Alexisonfire - This Could Be Anywhere In The World

Focus: Gabriel & Dresden

The duo that is Josh Gabriel and Dave Dresden reunited at the end of 2010 playing new years eve after splitting in 2008. They graced Australian shores earlier this year at Creamfields, which was my first contact with G&D's music. They played a fantastic set especially their R.E.M. mashup of Losing My Religion, that was a highlight of my day.

A new mix CD "Mixed for Feet" Vol 1 is on the way from these guys. Due out August 27th, here are a few recent G&D tracks that may feature.

Even if they don't, they are worth your time!
Enjoy!

Andain - Promises (Gabriel & Dresden Remix)

Clashback & Michael Woods vs R.E.M. - Losing My Outset (Gabriel & Dresden mashup)

Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes (DJ Kue Remix) (Gabriel & Dresden bootleg)

Deep Dish vs Wolfgang Gartner & Francis Preve - Say Yin (Gabriel & Dresden mashup)

First Post!

I've thought about this before, but all it took was a few kind words from Ando to get me blogging.
Welcome to my blog - a place primarily used for venting frustration, but i guess music news and new music is pretty important too.

About me:
Music has played a huge roll in my life. I own over 80 albums (Yes that's right, REAL copies i actually purchased), seen over 150 different artists and attended festivals since i was 15. I've been a hardcore/metal/punk fan from early days with bands like AFI, blink-182, slipknot and parkway drive receiving high rotation in primary school. However last year i started to take an interest in Electronic Dance Music (EDM) seriously. Nowadays I fucking love EDM all thanks to an incredible duo The Chemical Brothers, my first & favorite dance act.
